Simpsons Actual Rebuild

As before I have to start at the beginning , the tear down...

As you can see the playfield had some wear after 25 years

and some more

and here we can see some cracking in the playfield

Some areas were completely gone

Steps carried out

• Cleaned Playfield
• Leveled and reglued all inserts (always use heat like hairdryer to soften the glue and then hammer flat with a piece of wood and a rubber mallet)
• Used only airbrush paints to touch up the playfield and then 2K clear to protect the whole playfield.
• 3 coats of clear , then I wet sanded the surface as flat as I could. 400 grit to start with followed by 800 to finish
• Then two more coats to finish
• Then 800 grit wet sanded followed by 1200 , 1600 and 2000 , then then polished using a car buff and several grits of polish.
• Then two layers of wax.

This next photo shows what the buffing does to the surface of the playfield , the left is with 200 Grit, the right is after the polish.

Now the Cabinet

I created my own art work for the whole cabinet and then got it printed in the US..

And Now with the new custom art work , with the powdercoated rails and coin door..

And now I start to put the playfield back together

Now the finished product , yeah..baby...

A couple of little mods I added to the playfield.

I used Cointakers premiun anti-ghosting LED kit for lighting

All rubbers are Super-Bands..

The Cointaker LEDS have such a better more pure looking light. They are really good...
