So this playfield had heaps of planking, which I have to refill. The rest of the playfield was touched up by hand using airbrush paints.
After my first rebuild when I used standard acrylic paints, I learned airbrush paints are far superior , they don't change colour when they dry like standard acrylic paints to.
So had to re-spray using airbrush the sun burst. After spraying I carefully removed over spray using thinners and multitude of cotton tips, and cloth wrapped over different size tools to obtain the sharpest edges. I think the finish was pretty good.
Had t re-level the inserts in the Door, easily done by using a hairdryer and clamping the inserts down flat. Then reglued the back of all the inserts. Then had to repaint the frames on all inserts.
Touched up the guide on the left where the ball drops directly onto the guide switch (3rd from left). When I rebuilt place a cliffy guide over this area to protect my repair , forever..
So didn't look so bad at first , but there was heaps to fix.
Repaired most parts on playfield where the ball path goes below the playfield.
Anything Red was faded and had to be touched up by hand , or by using airbrush
First couple of layers down.
I used 2K clear coat. Love this stuff so tough , but also have to seal up garage and wear full top to bottom protective clothing and respirator. Remember always use a good respirator, if you can smell the paint through the respirator , it isn't working properly or isn't good enough. I think I use a level of filter that even removes gas.
Anyway , you can see dipping around some of the inserts. Flat sanding on day after praying removed some of these. Overs had to be refilled and sanded.
The longer you can leave the playfield before final flow coat gives you best result. Great for degassing and any shrinkage.
Final flow coat done and dried.
I decided to sand and polish, after the final coat.
flat with rubber pads and wet n dry.
Sanded flat playfield feels amazing. But requires alot of work to polish it.
Inserts are like they were from the factory, so flat. Left the playfield with almost a satin finish on this one..
So all back together. This is an awesome machine, easily my faourite
