This was my fifth rebuild. It was a pretty rough machine. Topper was partly there but pretty well destroyed. Missing Volcano, so much cabinet wear and heaps of playfield wear.
Another extensive rebuild of the playield. I spent ages redoing this , but I think it's night and day the difference.
This topper makes the machine very tall. Pretty cool topper that wobbles and taunts the player. The topper I got was completely destroyed. All the metal was bent and there was no gopher. Managed to grab an old topper from an Aussie Arcade member.. Thank god for the Pinball community in Australia.
Still this one was pretty rough , but it was all there.
Looks like this one was kept in garage , so much moisture damage.
Managed to purchase the original Gopher from USA, it's actually a squirrel with the tail removed.
Topper completed. Used Yellow edge protector (T-Moulding). Also was able to get alot parts from PBResouce , including a full decal set. Replaced the light sockets. Used a practice golf ball . Pretty happy with the result.
Cabinet wasn't great , halot of paint peeling, I suspect left in garage for ages , water must have been hitting the side, aot of the paint on the cart area just flaked off.
Didn't look too bad at first , but like the main cabinet , there was soo much more that started flaking off , once I starting cleaning. Some of the flag flaked off . Plastic tape was used.. And the gopher's face flaked off heaps, you can see the raised paint if you look close..
Cabinet , repainted. The camera shows up different textures , but to the naked eye it looks great. I did get some small amount of rippling on some of the cabinet when I clear coated. Strange .. But it's still a million times better than before.
Some more Cabinet Photos. I did spray it all with epoxy enamel paint , and then clearcoated , to keep the yellow , beautifully yellow for many years
Pretty Happy with the result. Like the yellow , really pops against the green.
Cabinet Completed
So much damage, so much work..
Results - Using Airbrush paints and photos from internet as guides, alot of hand painting under the Light/20x magnifier.
So , all timber guides were stripped (plastic removed) and replaced with identical dark birtch timber looking vinyl wrap.
New gopher wheel, complete flipper rebuild, new star posts, superbands rubber all round and new superbright LEDs.
More Photos , Added Custom Golfball shooter (made it myself, too easy).
All decals replaced
